I trained at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama first as a jazz vocalist and then on the Mmus Leadership course. Since then my practice has evolved to encompass theatre, solo and ensemble performance and creative facilitation. Over the last 15+ years, I have led creative workshops in a range of contexts from psychiatric units to abandoned cinemas, from orchestral halls to farms both here in the U.K. and in other places such as: India, West Africa, Indonesia, Singapore, Ireland, Japan and Bosnia. My performances are inspired by these experiences.
I lived in London for 11 years and, alongside a career as a performer and creator, I worked mainly with London's homeless community leading the musical activities at Crisis. I also tutored students at the GSMD to work with music as a therapeutic tool in various health care and educational settings. These days I live in the depths of the countryside on the Anglo/Welsh borders in an old chapel on top of a hill. I spend my time being a mother, working as a freelance artist and creative practitioner alongside teaching and developing my Voice Yoga practice.
I stand for exposing things:- issues that I feel need talking about, processes that I feel should be shared. I like finding the idea that is hidden, finding potential and nurturing it, bringing people together, asking questions, and listening to everything. I am in to creating environments in which ideas come alive, facilitating exploration for others and for myself and I like taking risks in both my workshops and my performance pieces. I am spontaneous; I like to make rules then break them. I like discovering new languages and challenging what it is to be a performer.
